Welcome to the Turner Family!

History has always conjured up a sentimental fascination for me. My parents and my grandparents filled my head with the stories of their parents and of their own childhood until I could feel as they were my own memories. As I grow older I find myself reminiscing about those days and they bring about a certain regret for not listening more and gathering from my family all they knew. History is more than names, places and dates. If that is all then truly it would be shallow. History is about the people and how they lived, what they thought and believed. It is about their everyday struggle to survive and their passion to go on. Within these pages I hope to put down more on paper than mere facts. I hope somehow to infuse onto these blank sheets a little of who these people were.

As time allows I hope to add as many photos as possible and links to other family as well as historical sites. Should anyone happen to come across this page that has an interest in this family I hope you will contact me and share whatever info or insight you my have.

Our history as far as I have traced it back finds itself in the days of the journey of the pilgrims to Plymouth. I am not sure how all the Turners tie into together but I do know that John Turner and his two sons arrived at Plymouth aboard the Mayflower only to die that first winter. Our Ancestor Humphrey Turner arrived approximately 1628 or as late as 1630. It is from him that our line descends. Someone I'm sure knows of his relationship to John but as of now I have not been able to determine that.

The second name I have chosen to highlight is that of Winslow Turner who left Massachusetts in 1800 to settle in upper Cuvier, Troy, Lincoln County Missouri. From their some of his children moved to Texas crossing the Sabine river on December 24, 1823 only later to return to Missouri for settling the will of Winslow Turner. After said proceeding they returned once more to Texas.
