Holy Week File Folder Game:
The objective of the game is to go through all the days of Holy Week by answering questions about each day.
Directions- Print out Directions, cut it out, and glue on front of file folder.
Game Board- Print out Game Board, trim, and glue on the inside of the file folder. Make sure the directions are on the front of the file folder. Laminate or cover file folder with clear contact paper to make it last.
Questions- Use these questions or make your own. Use only the questions that reflect your student’s abilities.
Spinner- Make spinner according to the directions. Keep inside file folder.

Hangman- (Players try to solve the Holy Week mystery word). The teacher picks a Holy Week word that is written on a piece of paper out of a bowl. The teacher then starts the hangman game by writing a blank line for each letter in the word. Teacher then picks someone to guess a letter. (Write on the chalkboard the letters that were guessed that were not in the mystery word). If a letter is guess correctly, it is written in the appropriate blank(s) and that person who guessed correctly gets another turn. They can guess another letter or guess the mystery word. If the person is incorrect, another player gets a turn. Whoever guessed the mystery word gets to pick a Holy Week word out of the bowl and start the hangman game.
Bingo-Make up simple bingo cards using pictures or vocabulary words with Bible questions from your lesson.

Baseball-Divide the class into two teams. Establish in the classroom, a first base, second base, third base, and home. Determine in advance how many innings will be played. Team #1 is up at bat first and line up along the chalkboard. The first player is asked a question from the teacher, if they are correct, they advance to first base. If they are incorrect, they go to the end of the line and it counts as an out. The second batter is then asked a different question. Each correct answer allows the batter to advance one base. The game continues like baseball until there are three outs. After three outs, Team #2 has their turn at bat. Whichever team has the most runs, wins.
Basketball-
Need: one small ball (or two balled up pieces of paper), two chairs, one trashcan.
Directions: Put a trashcan against a wall. Divide the class into two teams. Have students line up in two teams behind a chair (to keep them from getting too close to basket). Ask the first person in Team #1 a question. If they are correct, they get to try to make a basket. If they make a basket, their team gets a point. If they do not get a basket, their team does not receive a point. After the first player has his turn, he then goes to the end of Team #1’s line. It is now Team #2’s turn. The team with the most points wins.
Sunday Best (Palm Sunday)- This game will help children learn to honor Jesus as king. (The Encyclopedia of Bible Games, page 145 & 146).
Building My Cross (Good Friday)- During this game, children will build a cross for themselves and discover Jesus took their place. (The Encyclopedia of Bible Games, page 147).

Joseph and His Coat of Many Colors (card game):
This is a variation on the popular game of UNO with cards depicting the colored coat of Joseph. Players are trying to empty their hands of cards by playing them to a common pile, matching cards by color, number, or action. The deck is made up of 4 sets of differently colored cards with numbers from 1 to 8. There are also 4 Wild cards, 4 Draw 2 cards, 4 Skip cards, and 4 Reverse. (I wanted to buy this game, but could not find it so I made one.)

Egg Carton Caterpillar- This is an easy way to make caterpillars using egg cartons, crayons or markers, scissors, and pipe cleaners. (Write on the chalkboard the letters that were guessed that were not in the mystery word). If a letter is guess correctly, it is written in the appropriate blank(s) and that person who guessed correctly gets another turn. They can guess another letter or guess the mystery word. If the person is incorrect, another player gets a turn. Whoever guessed the mystery word gets to pick a Lent word out of the bowl and start the hangman game.

Wrapping Baby Moses (God Protects Moses)- This game will help your students discover the incredible act of faith that Moses’ mother demonstrated in hiding her baby among the reeds of the Nile to save him from certain death. (The Encyclopedia of Bible Games for Children’s Ministry, page 30 & 31).
Who Has Baby Moses?
Need: Small object to be baby Moses (example: clothes pin).
Introduce game: What was the name of the baby that was put in a basket and sent down the Nile by his mother? Who found Moses?
Directions: The children sit in a circle close together. The child who is “It” stands away from the circle and hides their eyes while baby Moses is passed around. When “It” says "STOP!", the child holding baby Moses hides it (under their leg, up their sleeve, etc.). The child who is “It” guesses who has baby Moses. The child who had baby Moses is now “It”.

Crafts:
Frog
Need: Paper plates, white and red construction paper.
Directions: Pre cut tongue for students out of red construction paper. Have the tongue about one inch wide and twelve inches long. Have students color paper plate green on one side and fold plate in half. (Note: Be sure to have students use old crayons and peel the paper off of crayons and rub the side of the crayon on the paper plate instead of coloring it. This will be a lot faster and easier for the students). Students then cut out two eyes that are pre drawn on white construction paper (round circles that are at least three inches across) and color eyes. Glue on eyes on outside of frog (green side) on the top of the paper plate that is folded in half. Have the eyes halfway on and halfway hanging off the fold near the center. Glue tongue inside the frog’s mouth starting from the center of the fold and out the front of the mouth. Curl tongue with pencil and draw a bug on end of tongue if you wish.
Tree Frog Beanbag- A cute beanbag of a frog that the students can make out of a sock. (Crafts for Kids who Are Wild About The Wild by Kathy Ross, pages 92 & 93 or Crafts for Kids Who Are Wild About Rainforests by Kathy Ross, pages 28 & 29).
Folded Frog Puppet- By folding a sheet of paper, you can make this funny frog puppet. (The Kids Can Press Jumbo Book of Easy Crafts by Judy Ann Sadler, page 61).
Plague of Frogs- A funny frog made out of a paper plate. Even though this craft comes from a preschool book, it is appropriate for older children to make. (Preschool Christian Crafts by Linda Standke, page 16 & 14).
Frog Prince- A fun paper plate craft of a frog with a tongue that pops in and out of it's mouth by blowing on a party blower. (Crafts From Your Favorite Fairy Tales by Kathy Ross, page 42 & 43).

Follow Directions
Introduce game: So you think you are good at following directions? Let’s find out.
Need: Bop It, Ballzerko, Simon, etc.
Directions: Divide the class into groups. Have one group play one game and the other plays another, etc. Students must do what the toy tells them to do. Change games after all students get a chance to play.
Moses Says File Folder Game:
Directions- Print out Directions, cut it out, and glue on front of file folder.
Game Board- Print out Game Board, trim, and glue on the inside of the file folder. Make sure the directions are on the front of the file folder. Laminate or cover file folder with clear contact paper to make it last.
Spinner- Make spinner according to the directions.
The Promised Land File Folder Game:

Ten Commandments File Folder Game: (Catholic Version posted, but you can easily change this to a Protestant Version by editing the Game Cards)
The objective of the game is to identify which one of the Ten Commandments the sin broke.
Directions- Print out Directions, cut it out, and glue on front of file folder.
Game Board- Print out Game Board, cut around tablets and glue on the inside of the file folder (one tablet on the left and the other on the right). Make sure the directions are on the front of the file folder. Laminate or cover file folder with clear contact paper to make it last.
Game Cards- (Feel free to change the Game Cards or use your own.) Print Game Cards out on card stock. Cut out Game Cards. Laminate or cover with clear contact paper to make them last. Only use the Game Cards that are age appropriate for your students.
