The MOPS International theme for 2008-2009 is ADVENTURES IN MOTHERING. This theme will equip us as moms to learn more about ourselves as we go through the adventure of motherhood. We will learn how we can celebrate and embrace the fun in the experiences, even in the midst of daily mom life that stretches us emotionally and spiritually.

The metaphor for ADVENTURES IN MOTHERING is an amusement park. With the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overload. But our MOPS group will enjoy this together and learn.

Mom's Magic Kingdom: Making your house a home (Honest, Organization, Moments, Expectations) with Alicia Gunderson

Sept 29th - The Second stop on our adventure and it was another great adventure. Today Kim and Nadine gave us a great Ice breaker game using M&M's - it's good to know that I'm not the only one who has aspirations of getting photo's scrap booked one day (right Shannon)!

Next our Mentor Mom's gave us a very inspirational handout titled "Words to live by" which is full of inspirational sayings such as - "A person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused" ~Shirley MacLaine. Contact the Mentor Mom's if you would like a copy of their inspirational handout. Lu led us in the "Mentor Moment" segment by sharing a humorous story and left us with the knowledge "to be able to laugh at ourselves, respect each other and only share stories/prayer requests/ect that we hear during our MOPS meeting if you get permission first." Thanks Mentor Moms!

Susan led us in the "Misadventures of Mothering" segment with the much enjoyed details of her son and the talking Spiderman shoes - "Thank God my son isn't crazy, his shoes really do talk" - Thanks for sharing Susan

We had a fabulous guest speaker today - Alicia Gunderson, is a former MOPS mom, and currently a MOPS mentor, raising 2 girls ages 8 & 10 and living near our area. Today's notes: download HERE

Tanya and Nicole treated us with one of our favorite crafts of making apple pie! - yummy! Thanks so much for doing this craft before the Holidays, now I have something to bring to Thanksgiving dinner - Whoo Hoo! (check out the craft link for details).

Jackie closed the meeting in pray. Please remember to pray for your steering team members who will be traveling to Texas this week for the MOPS convention: that they will have safe travels and with the trainings so they will be well equipped to serve you this year.

While we were enjoying our time our kids were also having fun in the MOPPETTS program playing games with their teachers and making crafts. We are so blessed to have Aimee as our MOPPETS coordinator this year, she is so great with the kids - Thanks Aimee and Helpers!
